Harm reduction interventions attempt to reduce the health risks of the acute consumption of mainly illegal drugs and, if possible, to assign the affected individuals to facilities for initial treatment. Harm reduction services include contact and drop-in centres, emergency shelters, semi-assisted living, work projects and outreach social work.
