Historically, the ISGF has repeatedly established methodological and conceptual foundations for epidemiological research as well as treatment and quality research in the fields of alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs, which have encountered great interest on a national, European and international level. Examples from the field of epidemiology include the development of a method to compare the burden of alcohol-related diseases across countries and a methodology to determine the avoidable burden of disease.
A recent example is the project Mental Health Literacy and Stigma, which investigates mental health literacy and stigmatising attitudes towards people with mental health problems and addictions in a sample of 15-20 year olds.
