Project Description

“MobileCoach Alkohol” is a mobile phone based program to reduce high-risk alcohol consumption among young people. Between 2020 and 2022 the program is being further developed with regard to the communication channel (Chatbot Coaching App instead of SMS) and expanded in terms of content and language. Additionally, it is being implemented by addiction prevention centers in middle schools and in high schools in the German, French and Italian speaking parts of Switzerland. Over the course of three months participant are motivated to be responsible with their alcohol consumption. The program also provides feedback on their alcohol consumption and offers information on the subject of alcohol and health in weekly dialogues. Contests as well as interactive challenges are also integrated into the program. In a separate chat within the app, experts answer personal questions. High-risk participants are encouraged to examine their own alcohol consumption and motivated to use further guidance and assistance. The program will be carried out between 2020-2022 in school classes around Switzerland, in close cooperation with addiction prevention agencies. After the end of the three-month program, indicators of use, acceptance and effectiveness of the program are reviewed by means of a follow-up survey.
